Four Go Mildly Wild In Hebden Bridge

Last Friday myself and three friends set off for a long weekend in Hebden Bridge and after a slight detour, as we were talking so much we ignored the sat nav and missed the correct turning, we arrived at our penthouse apartment.

Croft Mill in Hebden Bridge (http://www.croftmill.com/) comes highly recommended by all four of us. The welcome from Josephine was very friendly, informative and the basket of organic goodies & fresh fruit was simply lovely. Our apartment did not disappoint as it was very modern, well equipped and comfortable. We all agreed the beds were some of the best we have ever slept on. The floor to ceiling windows overlooking the town and further afield were an instant hit and we all just loved laying on the sofas and watching the world go by.

HebdenBridge is such a lovely little town. Nestled in to the hills and with the canal running by, it is certainly picturesque and the natives were very friendly. I particularly enjoyed the visiting all the little independent shops and of course the cafes with their coffee and scrummy cakes were a bighit with us all. We ate our dinner at the White Lion on the Saturday evening and was very impressed by the food we were served.

On the Saturday we decided to go to Saltaire (http://www.saltairevillage.info/) to visit this World Heritage Site and to go and see the David Hockney exhibition in Salts Mill.

The scale of the mill was impressive and the whole area gave an insight into the history of the textile industry and the lives of the people who lived there. I loved the rows of terrace houses that ran parallel to each other and the church was a very dramatic looking building. Again the area was serviced by a canal and the boats looked to pretty.

My over riding memory of the weekend will be just how dramatic and lovely West Yorkshire is. Driving up above Haworth was just so bleak but so beautiful. I will certainly be returning to the area again sometime soon and would recommend it as a great spot for a weekend away.
